DAATTC, Mudhole-Conducted Field Demonstration cum Awareness on HDPS Cotton to Farmers on 30-10-2021
DAATT-C, Mudhole conducted field demonstration cum awareness programme on HDPS Cotton cultivation at farm of ARS, Mudhole on 30.10.2021 to the farmers of Agriculture division of Mudhole. Dr. G. Veeranna, Coordinator, DAATTC, Mudhole reiterated the necessity and objective of the HDPS cotton cultivation in Vanakalam. Also discussed pros and cons of the HDPS cotton in the standing crop, as some of the farmers shows interest to cultivate HDPS cotton in ensuing season, as most of the farmers express their opinion on HDPS cotton cultivation was best for farming community which was low input cost and high profitable within a short period. But, single picking with manual is difficult due to labour shortage. Dr. K. Vijay Kumar, Scientist (Pl.Br.) briefed about the station mandate and desi cotton varieties future availability and possibility of cultivation. Dr. M. Sampath Kumar, Scientist (ToT) demonstrated on seed treatment of Bengal gram against wilt control, suggested suitable cotton based sequence crops and sowing cut off dates and importance. Sri. A. Bhaskar, MAO, Mudhole, AEO’s of Agril. division of Mudhole and 40 no. of farmers participated in the programme.
