DAATTC, Tornala organized training programme on Pink bollworm management in Cotton and method demonstration of seed treatment in groundnut on 10-11-2021

DAATTC, Tornala organized training programme on Pink bollworm management in Cotton on 10.11.02021 in Katkur village, Husnabad mandal, Siddipet district. During the programme, Sri J. Vijay explained about crop diversification in cotton fallows with green gram, blackgram and sesamum. As this area covers 1500 acres of sunflower, due to unavailability of seed they want to replace sunflower with jowar and we explained in detail about jowar crop management practices. He also explained about the groundnut cultivation in rice fallows followed by the method demonstration of seed treatment with 1 g Tebuconazole and 10 g of rhizobium culture per kg seed to the farmers in the field. Dr. Ch. Pallavi explained about the IPM practices and farmers were advised to install pheromone traps @ 4/acre in cotton for monitoring of pink bollworm. If each trap catch is more than 5-8 adult moths for three consecutive days, farmers were recommended to spray insecticides like Emamectin benzoate @ 0.5g/lit or Indoxacarb @ 1.0 ml/lit or Spinosad @ 0.4ml/lit or Spinetoram @ 0.9ml/lit. After that, interacted with farmers and clarified their doubts about pest and disease management and various crops to be grown in rice fallow as part of crop diversification and weed management under such situations. Assistant Director of Agriculture P. Mahesh, Mandal Agricultural Officer Nagaraju, AEO Ranjith, ATM Sai Charan, Sarpanch, RSS member and 42 farmers participated in the programme.
