DAATTC, ARS, Tornala organized Awareness cum training programme on green manuring and PSB application at Marimuthsyala (V), Komuravelly (M), Siddipet (Dt.) on 21.06.2023. The Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala Dr. S. Sridevi appraised the gathering and explained about Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria which plays a vital role in P solubilization by producing organic acids and its mechanism. PSB can be used for all crops including paddy, millets, oilseeds, pulses and vegetables. It can be applied through seed treatment, seedling dipping and soil application. For Seed treatment of 10 kg medium size seeds such as paddy, groundnut, wheat, cotton, maize etc., may be treated with 200 g of inoculant, whereas 100 g per acre inoculant is enough for treatment of small size seeds. Seedling dipping method is useful where the transplantation of seedlings are required. Dip the roots of seedlings in suspension and keep them immersed for about 5 minutes. Take out the seedlings from the suspension and transplant as early as possible. Suspension of one kg in 10 to 15 litre of water for treating of seedlings for one acre. For Soil application mix 2 kg inoculant with 50-100 kg finely powdered FYM and broad cast this mixture at the time of last ploughing. Later, we gave method demonstration on seed treatment with PSB and distributed a pamphlet on PSB uses and its application methods. Later, Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist, DAATTC, Tornala discussed about the green manuring and its importance. Further, as part of farmers- scientist interaction farmers asked to explain about the incorporation of the rice stubbles and stem borer management in paddy. Scientists explained about the questions raised by the farmers. In this programme, Smt. Radhika, ADA-Cherial division, M. Naresh, MAO, Amala, AEO and 45 farmers have participated.
