DAATTC, Tornala organized training cum awareness programme on Wet DSR at Markook (V&M), Siddipet on 01-06-2024

Training cum awareness programme was organized on the wet direct seeding in rice condition in collaboration with Nuziveedu seeds Ltd. And Agriculture Department by DAATTC, Tornala on 01.06.2024 at Markook (V&M) of Siddipet district. Sri. J. Vijay (Coordinator) explained about the management practices to be followed in HDPS cotton. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (CP) has explained that wet DSR is a method that promises to alleviate challenges inherent in traditional paddy cultivation. Unlike the labour intensive and costly conventional transplanting method, which involves nursery management and labour expenses, the DSR offers a more efficient and cost effective alternative. Certain advantages viz., it saves labour, requires less water, less drudgery, early crop maturity, low production cost, better soil physical conditions for following crops and less methane emission, provides better option to be the best fit in different cropping systems. Comparative yields in wet DSR can be obtained by adopting various cultural practices viz., selection of suitable cultivars, proper sowing time, optimum seed rate, proper weed and water management. Later, P. Narashimha Reddy, Nuziveedu seeds RM explained about the yasangi yields with Nuziveedu Pushkal variety and management practices under wet DSR. Srikanth, RM, NSL said that NSL is encouraging the wet DSR by giving free seed to 500 acres area in Markook itself as corporate social responsibility for ensuring Vanakalam, 2024. Sri. L. Bikshapathi farmer, have explained to the house about the practices he followed in the wet DSR and he is saving around Rs.6000-8000/- per acre. He expressed that the no. of tillers are more in wet DSR compared to normal transplanting. Sri. B. Venkat Reddy another farmer from same village has informed that he got 8-10 % higher yield in wet DSR and he is practicing this method from 3 years onwards. Mandal Agriculture Officer- Dr. T. Nagender Reddy highlighted the importance of fertilizer and water management being crucial in wet DSR. ADA (Mulugu division)- Sri. Anil, AEOs- Rajinikanth, Vishnuvardhan, Bhanusri, Nuziveedu company officials Praveen Reddy, Ranjith Reddy along with 66 no. of farmers have participated in the programme.
