KVK, Bhadradri Kothagudem diagnostic team of scientists lead by Dr. G. Veeranna, Programme coordinator has visited paddy fields at Tippanapalle village, Chandrugonda mandal on 19.09.202.The farmers has reported crop reddening and drying and suspected zinc deficiency or pest incidence. The team of scientists, Dr. V. Lakshmi Narayanamma, SMS (Ento.) and Dr. R. Vishwatej, SMS (Extn.) and group of farmers of the village visited paddy field, and diagnosed potash deficiency, BPH and leaf blast in paddy varieties viz., BPT-5204, MTU-1061, RNR-15048 and WGL-1119 (Minikit ) and recommended to the farmers spraying of Acephate 75% SP @ 1.5 g/l and Etofenprox 10% EC @ 2 ml/l of water for BPH control, and Tricyclozole @ 0.6 gm/l of water and application of urea in more number of splits in less quantity for control of Blast and to drain out the water from the fields and irrigating the field in AWD method . The diagnostic team has identified severe potassium deficiency symptoms in the crops and confirmed from the village farmers that they are not aware of basal application of potash in paddy grown in red soils. The team has recommended that as crop is at tillering to panicle initiation stage so, it is right time for MOP application of 20 kg per acre. It was also observed that farmers are using complex fertilisers for top dressing, and create awareness to use straight fertilisers i.e., urea and MOP only for top dressing . The team also observe sporadic incidence for Leaf folder, stem borer below ETL and suggested spray of cartap hydrochloride 50% SP @ 2 g/l of water.
