KVK, Bhadradri Kothagudem team has conducted a diagnostic visit along with Department of Agriculture Officials to the Maize fields at Nayakualagudem village, Sujathanagar Mandal on 27.08.2021. Dr. V. Lakshmi Narayanamma, Programme coordinator diagnosed the fields which were heavily infested with Fall Army Worm (FAW) and damage was seen even on cobs. The scientist has recommended farmers to spray chlorantraniliprole @ 0.3 ml or lambda cyhalothrin @ 1 ml/ lit and make sure that the spray fluid should be deposited in leaf whorls. To control mature larvae she explained the procedure to prepare poison baits using 10 kg of rice bran, 2-3 kg of jaggery mixed with 2-3 lit of water and allow to ferment the slurry for 24 hours and add 100 g of Thiodicarb to that just before one hour of application and make small balls and drop them in leaf whorls. She also issued a press advisory through local electronic and print media on measure to be taken to prevent spread of pest to adjacent crops. The diagnostic team include Dr. R.Vishwatej(SMS, Extension), Mr. B.Shiva(SMS, Horticulture), Smt. Narmada(Agricultural Officer), Mr. Sharath (AEO) and farmers B. Narshima Rao, M. Veerabhadram and other farmers.
