EEI, Hyderabad organized Awareness Meeting on Vertebrate Pest Management on 22-11-2022 as a part of Action Research on Crop Diversification

The problems expressed by the farmers in the previous meeting were prioritised and subsequent meeting conducted by the EEU, Hyderabad in collaboration with the state department of Agriculture and DAATT Centre on 15-11-2022 was conducted by EEI, Hyderabad on 22-11-2022 at Seetharampur village of Gundala mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Dr. V. Ravinder Reddy, Principal Scientist and Head, AINP on Vertebrate Pest Management, Dr. A. Sailaja, Professor, EEI, officials of DAATTC of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and the department of agriculture along with Assistant Director of Agriculture of Alair division, coordinator of Mandal Rythu Samanvaya Samithi Mr. Pandari attended the meeting. Dr. V. Ravinder Reddy introduced the farmers to the devices developed by PJTSAU – agri-canon (against monkeys) agri-solar fencing energiser (normal and GSM enabled – against all wild animals) and bio-acoustic device (against wild boars) as a facilitation mechanism to shift towards crop diversification. Information material was also supplied to the farmers who expressed interest to demonstrate the operation of agri-canon. About thirty farmers attended rythu vedika meeting conducted at seetharampur village. Six farmers expressed interest to grow pulses and oilseeds in ensuing yasangi in about 10 acres. Quality seed supply was assured by DAATT centre to encourage the farmers. The meeting was conducted to facilitate farmers to shift towards crop diversification in the ensuing yasangi. As a feedback to research system farmers wished for the validation of low cost laser light being used by the farmers in the area for its effectiveness in control of monkeys.
