EEI, Hyderabad has conducted an online on campus training programme on IFS in creation of sustainable livelihoods for small and marginal farmers which started on 15-2-2022 and valedictory was held on 19-2-2022 at EEI, PJTSAU, Hyderabad. 39 officers from the states of Telangana, Odisha, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh representing Agriculture sector attended the programme. Earlier on 15th February 2022, the inaugural session of the training programme was attended by Dr. M. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Director, EEI who mentioned that Integrated Farming Systems is one approach that would help small and marginal farmers get continuous income all round the year, which in turn would lead to sustainability. Hence, he appealed to all the participants to attend the programme with dexterity and sincerity and implement the learning’s in their back home situation. Expressing their impressions about the programme, the participant officers said that all the sessions were dealt with precision and expertise and that they have learnt many perspectives of Integrated Farming Systems. The region specific interventions and culture based IFS models presented by different states was an eye opener to many, as models like coconut based, spice based, banana based, millet based and palm oil based IFS models were known to them. Many participants expressed that all the inputs derived from the programme will be highly useful to them. Addressing the participants during the valediction, Dr. M. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that a professional attitude towards oneself and chosen career is critical. He further appealed that all the officers should try to implement the inputs learnt in the training programme and share its impact to EEI so as to measure the effectiveness of the programme. He further requested the participants to share success stories of the same so that impact of the programme can be documented. The programme was conducted and was coordinated by Dr. M. Preethi, Professor, EEI.
