EEI, Hyderabad organized online Training Programme on ‘Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture

EEI conducted two online training programmes for four days on ‘Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture’ from 19th – 22nd April, 2022. One programme was off campus for the officers of Tamil Nadu and the other for the officers of Southern States. The training curriculum encompassed plethora of topics on Transition strategy to Natural Farming, Natural Farming – an overview, integration of allied sectors in Natural Farming, virtual tour to Natural Farm to Deerghaayush Start-up, crop planning and management in Natural Farming, soil health management in Natural Farming, validation of package and practices in Natural Farming, innovations in pest management using pheromones as mating disruption tool, community based approach in Natural Farming, plant protection in Natural Farming, nutrient management in Natural Farming, Natural Farming and certification, value chain management in Natural Farming, crop management in Natural Farming. In the valedictory address Dr. M. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Director, EEI, Hyderabad expressed that Natural Farming is agro-ecology based diversified farming system, which integrates crops, trees, livestock and functional biodiversity. He also stressed that Natural Farming draws inspiration from nature to develop synergic farming systems based on Diversity, resilience, natural productivity and sustainability. Both the programmes on Natural Farming were coordinated by Dr. I. Sreenivasa Rao, Sr. Professor and University Head and Dr. A. Sailaja, Professor, EEI, Hyderabad.
