Enhancing Livelihoods through Value Addition to Mahua Flowers at KVK, Adilabad on 07.12.2024

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Adilabad, is empowering tribal communities by promoting value addition to Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) like Mahua flowers. Under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) program, KVK provided a multipurpose micro-processing flour mill worth ₹30,000 to the Bheem Bai Adivasi Sahakara Sangam at Utnoor X Road. The KVK also imparted technical knowledge to the society members on product preparation, nutritional benefits, shelf-life extension, FSSAI licensing, and packaging techniques. Out of 35 members in the society, 12 are actively involved in producing diversified Mahua-based products. These members earn a daily income of ₹500 in addition to benefiting from the society’s annual profit-sharing system. This initiative is a significant step towards improving livelihoods, promoting entrepreneurship, and ensuring sustainable utilization of forest resources.
