Exposure Visit to SC farmers Conducted by Agricultural College, Jagtial on 02-03-2020

Agricultural College, Jagtial with the financial support of ICAR – SC - SP Programme 2019-20 has organized an exposure visit on 02.03.2020. Dr. Y. Archana Karuni, Dr. T. Sravan Kumar and Dr. N. Mahesh have leaded the programme. A total of 25 SC farmers from Gullapeta, Polasa, Chinnapur Gangapur, Arpapally, Rangapet and Paidimadugu, Anantharam and Laxmipur villages have participated. The first session of visit was towards Integrated farming systems maintained by the entrepreneur & National award winner in Fisheries - Mr. Arun Kranthi. The facilitator has explained the farmers on how to make farming profitable with business motive rather than production oriented. Various tips required on how to start up any enterprise were explained. Further technical (suitable breeds, feed disease and pest management, Recirculation Aquaculture System Season of breeding and marketing) and financial aspects (investment, cost of production, output, Break-even and marketing aspects) of raising poultry and fish cultivation were discussed. He also enlightened about the effective utilization of agricultural waste into suitable farm components. The farmers were very much inspired by the innovative work done by the entrepreneur. The second session was organized at Anantharam village where in Mr. Miryala Satyanarayana Rao has taken up vegetable cultivation in about 4 acres with mulching, Pendals and drip irrigation. Tomato (KSR- Bahubali), Bottle gourd and Ridge gourd were being cultivated. The production and marketing aspects of staking, trellising, disease management have been explained elaborately. He also explained about the techniques on cultivation of vegetables on low cost basis for the maximizing the profits.
