Farmer-Scientist-Student interaction meeting on eve of 9th University Foundation Day by ARS, DAATTC and APT, Tornala on 03-09-2023 at ARS, Tornala

Farmer-Scientist-Student interaction session on the eve of ninth foundation day was celebrated by ARS, DAATTC, APT, Tornala on 03.09.2023 at at Agricultural Research Station, Tornala. The programme was started with lightening of lamp by farmers and students followed by offering floral tributes to the Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar by all the staff of ARS, DAATTC and APT, Tornala along with the farmers & students followed with playing of University Song. Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala has addressed the gathering and highlighted the key achievements and role of agricultural university in the past 9 years from the formation and its contribution to holistic development of farming community in Telangana state. Further she also gave a brief presentation to the farmers and students on the common pests and diseases in major crops like paddy, maize, cotton and pulses. Later, Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (TOT), DAATTC, Tornala has discussed on importance of critical inputs for better management of agricultural crops in paddy, cotton and maize crops followed by the distribution of inputs for OFTs & FLDs to the farmers of Chittapur, Bussapur, Tornala, Ankshapur, Mundrai & Chinnakistapur. Sri. L. Raja, Asst. Professor (Extn.), APT, Tornala conducted quiz to the farmers and students combinely, further the prizes were distributed to the first & second places. Later, as part of the programme, Dr. E. Uma Rani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) have demonstrated the different sowing methods of paddy and Smt. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.) explained about the seed production plots of green gram, redgram and black gram. Scientists have clarified the doubts raised by the farmers in paddy, maize and cotton crops raised by them followed by visits to the seed production plots of paddy & pulses. Finally, the programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. E. Uma Rani, Scientist (Pl. Br.), ARS, Tornala.
