Field Day on Management of Wild Boar in Sorghum Conducted by DAATTC, Adilabad, on 28-02-2020

District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology (DAATTC), Adilabad conducted a field day on management of wild boar in Sorghum at village Daboli, Jainoor mandal of Asifabad district on 28.02.2020. Programme coordinator Dr. D. Mohan das addressed the gathering and delivered the welcomed remarks to the farmers. Dr. D. Veeranna, Scientist (crop protection) explained the importance of field day and gave information on bio acoustic device and safflower crop sown as border crop. He asked the host farmer to provide his feedback, farmer Meshram Chinnu expressed his experience on technology adoption and shared, he sown the safflower crop as border crop one week prior to sowing of sorghum crop and installed the bio acoustic device after 25 DAS and operating it on a 3 day interval period rather than regular basis, this is to avoid the adaptability of wild boar to the bio acoustic device sounding pattern. He also shared wild boar damage was not yet observed in the surrounding 10 acres of crop fields after the installation of bioacoustic device in comparison to the damage observed on same period during last year. He is expecting more yield from jowar along with additional income from safflower crop sown as border crop. Dr. M. Sampath Kumar Scientist (ToT) provided the importance of safflower crop and its use as leafy vegetable, cosmetics, medicinal values, edible oil etc. and shared the market availability of safflower crop and its harvesting methodology. Officials from department of agriculture, sarpanch- Meshram Nago rao and 35 farmers from adjacent two villages were participated and made the programme successful.
