Field Day on Mechanisation in Maize on 21-09-2019

A “Field day on Mechanization in maize sown with Vacuum planter” was conducted by Maize Research Centre, ARI, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad in collaboration with DAATTC, Warangal & Department of Agriculture at Malkapur village, Chilpur mandal, Jangaon district on 21-09-2019. The programme was organized under the Chairmanship of Dr.G. Annuradha, Principal Scientist & Head, MRC, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal, acted as the Chief guest for the programme, Dr. D. Srilatha, Principal Scientist, MRC, R’Nagar, Hyderabad, Dr. M. Lavakumar, Principal Scientist, MRC, R’ Nagar, Hyderabad, Dr. Rajaiah (FIM, Dr. E. Srinivas, Principal Scientist & Coordinator, and Sri. J. Vijay, Scientist, Crop production, DAATTC, Warangal addressed the gathering. More than 50 farmers attended the field day programme. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao emphasized the utilization of machinery for maize cultivation to obtain higher yields & maximum net returns. He advised the farmers to form a commodity group (maize) to facilitate timely sowings in larger areas in rabi through machine sowing. Dr. E. Srinivas, Principal Scientist (Extension) & Coordinator informed the house that if farmers are willing to take up mechanized sowings in rabi, DAATTC, Warangal shall extend all the technical help required for the same. Farmers’ feedback taken on the issue was positive and most of them opined that it would address labour challenge. Further they requested more support from PJTSAU in demonstration of wilt resistant varieties.
