Field Day on newly released paddy varieties at adopted Village, Damera on 11-11-2021
Village adoption team of Agricultural College, Warangal conducted field day on newly released paddy varieties i.e., WGL - 962 and KNM-1638 at adopted village, Damera on 11.11.2021. Dr. G. Swathi, convenor of village adoption team has organized the programme on showcasing the performance of WGL 962 and KNM 1638. Dr. G.Santhosh Kumar, Asst. Professor (Agronomy), briefed about the characters of both varieties which were given to two farmers (Sri. Y.Ilaiah and H.Chandar rao) in one acre each. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Asst. Professor (Entomology) explained about different plant protection measures to be followed for yasangi crops. The host farmers said that the paddy varieties WGL-962 and KNM-1638 were better than existing varieties like BPT-5204 and MTU-1010. They also expressed that both the varieties were resistant to most of the pests and diseases and comes to harvest early than all existing varieties. The programme was followed by field visit, during farmer-scientist interaction all the queries were clarified and farmers expressed satisfaction over the crop performance. Dr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Dr. G. Swathi, Dr. Ch. Anusha and Smt. L. Suhasini and 20 farmers participated in the programme.
