Diagnostic Field visit was conducted by ARS and DAATTC Karimnagar constituting members Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Dr.D.Sravani, Scientist (Pl.Br.) and Dr.K. Sekhar, Scientist (Crop production) & Coordinator, Dr.B.Sowjanya , Scientist (CCS) along with the Agricultural Extension officers, Smt. Ganga and Smt Latha Sri visited the Potturu, Muskanpet and Narsakkapet villages of Ellanthakunta mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district. Visited cotton, redgram and maize fields. Maize crop is at vegetative to boot leaf stage .Severe incidence of fall army worm was noticed in maize irrespective of the stage of crop, farmers gone for 3-4 sprays with different chemicals like Emamectin benzoate and Chlorantraniliprole. Advised the farmers to apply sand and lime (9:1) and poison bait in whorls instead of going for repeated chemical sprayings and also observed the phosphorous deficiency in maize particularly in rice fallows, recommended to spray 19:19:19 @ 10 gram /lit of water twice in a week . In cotton Pink boll worm was noticed and it is below ETL. Recommended to spray Profenofos@ 2 ml /lit of water and advised the cotton farmers to remove the cotton fields by December. Redgram crop is at flowering stage, incidence of webber and pod borer noticed. Sensitized the farmers for crop diversification, on growing of sesamum, sunflower, ground nut, mustard, pulses and on environmental pollution problems due to burning of paddy stubbles.
