On October 26, 2024, Scientists from the DAATTC-Sangupet and the Agricultural Research Station in Tornala conducted a field observation in Anantasagar village, Kondapur mandal, focusing on turmeric, paddy, cotton, ginger, and betel nut crops. The primary emphasis was on pest management techniques for turmeric. During the session, scientists identified tuber pests affecting the turmeric crop and recommended the use of Metalaxyl at a dosage of 2 grams/litre for prevention. They advised applying this treatment through drip irrigation. Additionally, they noted the presence of stem borers in rice and recommended for farmers to spray Cartap Hydrochloride 2 grams/litre. The scientists explained that after the turmeric crop germinates, earthing up the plants improves water and air supply, protecting the young shoots from sunlight. This practice contributes to higher quality produce, which in turn can command better market prices. The program featured contributions from various experts, including Sri. K. Rahul Vishwakarma, CoordinatoR and Smt. K. Saritha from the (DAATTC)-Sangupet, Dr. Sreejaya and Dr. Swetha from the Agricultural Research Station, Tornala, Mandal Agriculture Officer- Ganesh, Horticulture Officer- Shailaja, Agriculture Extension Officers Prem Raj and Ravi, and DAATTC YP-1 Srikanth. Local farmers also participated actively in the event.
