Diagnostic Field visit to Groundnut, Redgram, Rice, Tomato and Papaya in Devarkonda Division of Nalgonda (Dist.) on 24-11-2020

Extensive Diagnostic Field visit by KVK, Kampasagar along with Agriculture and Horticulture Department officials was conducted in crops Groundnut, Redgram, Rice, Tomato and Papaya at Thurupupally, Guntupally and Polepally villages of Devarkonda division of Nalgonda district on 24.11.2020. Groundnut crop observed at different field stages from 15 to 30 days duration and observed low incidence of Spodoptera litura. No farmer is applying gypsum which is required. Advised farmers to apply Gypsum @ 200 kg/Acre is must for more pods, better pod filling, kernal size and oil content. In redgram podfly, Helicoverpa and Maruka was noticed in some of the fields and cautioned to farmers to take preventive measures by spraying Neemoil @ 5 ml/L followed by neem based insecticide spraying. In case of Rice (BPT – 5204) some of the fields affected with the incidence of false smut disease which is moderate to severe and crop at harvest stage. All the group of Scientists (8No.) and Sri. Praveen, Horticulture Officer visited Papaya Orchard at Gunutupally (V), Chandampet (M). Met with Sri.L. Padma Reddy, Progressive and innovative farmer cultivating Papaya (Redlady Variety) in 30 acres area with integration of inorganics and organics along with best horticultural practices such as drip, fertigation, using ecofriendly sticky traps, fruit fly traps and new innovative power operated sprayer for plant protection. Papaya (18 months age old) at fruiting stage, fruit size and quality is good and getting good returns and supplying good quality produce to fruit markets of Uttar Pradesh State. Group of Scientists observed well maintained garden with good practices followed by Progressive farmer. Finally visited rice crop at Polampally village where the crop (Bothukamma Variety) was cultivating with organic farming on native soil fertility and applying fermented cowdung slurry only through irrigation with out any chemicals. Crop condition healthy at harvest stage, totally free from pests and diseases and excepting good yield. Himabindhu, SMS (Horticulture) KVK, Kampasagar, Sri. Madhushekar, DAATTC, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Dr. Mallaiah, Senior Scientist (Plant Pathology), Maize Research Centre, ARI, Rajendranagar, Sri. Ravikumar, Agriculture Officer, Devarkonda, Sri Praveen Horticulture Officer, Devarkonda and Sri. Mallesh. AEO, Devarkonda and other Fellow farmers all together 30 participated in field visit.
