Field visit to Adopted village Kothapeta 03.11.2022

Village adoption team members Dr. N. Hema Sarat Chandra, Dr. M. Harika and Smt. K. Gopika have visited Kothapeta village on 03.11.2022. Paddy crop is at grain filling stage, farmers who have tested the PJTSAU paddy varieties like WGL 1119 and RNR 15048 have given positive feedback on the performance. No serious pest and disease incidences were observed during the crop period. It is expected to get the yields around 25-28 Quintal per acre when harvested. Vegetable crops like Bottle gourd, Tomato are in flowering to fruit setting stage; no pest and disease severity is observed. Cotton crop is being harvested; first picking is done. Further, Village adoption team has interacted with the farmers regarding introduction of Oil palm crop. Preliminary visit is made to field to understand the soil suitability for the oil palm. As the village is predominated with black soil, expert opinion is requested to make decisions to introduce the crop.
