Field visit cum Training on Summer Greengram at Gudur, an adopted village of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar

A ‘field visit cum training programme on summer Greengram’ was organized at Guduru, an adopted village of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar on 05-03-22 by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Dr. S. Upendhar, Dr. K. Shailaja and Dr. K. Aruna, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar. Mrs. K. Anitha, AEO, Mr. B. Sathaiah, Sarpanch and 25 farmers from Guduru village have participated in this programme. At the outset, the teaching staff along with farmers have visited three greengram fields in the village. The crop was at seedling stage to vegetative growth stage in different fields. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu enlightened the farmers about best management practices to be followed in summer greengram with main emphasis on optimum sowing window, selection varieties (WGG-42, WGG-37 etc.,), seed treatment, nutrient, weed and water management and importance of fertigation and economics. He also emphasized on the importance of greengram in N fixation and improving soil fertility due to it’s leguminous nature and also green manuring before kharif rice. Further he also told that greengram is an important pulse crop either in rice fallows in rabi season or as summer crop in view of crop diversification in Telangana. Dr. S. Upendhar has discussed about integrated pest and disease management strategies to be adopted for effective control and higher yields in greengram. The farmer Mr. Yadaiah was suggested to spray Acetamiprid @ 60 g+19-19-19 @ 2 kg/acre against sucking pests and better growth of crop.
