Fifth day of NSS Special Camp of Agricultural College, Jagtial on 19-10-2019

Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial has organized its fifth day NSS special camp at Hanmajipeta Village, Jagtial Mandal on 19-10-2019. The day focuses mainly on giving awareness on organic farming, construction of individual house hold toilets; rural sanitation, child health care and demonstration on use of pheromone traps and sticky cards in different crops and soil sample collection. Sri. Narsingha Rao, Retired Agricultural Officer in his address said the agricultural students have to take a prominent role in making the villages in a befitted manner. Each and every individual has to contribute for making changes in the farming community. Mr. A. Uma Rajasekhar, Assistant Professor and NSS Programme officer has given awareness on application of organic based products and its impact for maintaining the soil health. Mr. S. Srinivas Naik, Assistant Professor explained about the different techniques in controlling the pest occurrence in the field. He has conducted method demonstration on pheromone traps and yellow sticky cards for controlling the sucking pests and also for knowing the intensity of pest occurrence. Dr. A. Krishna Chaitanya, Assistant Professor explained about the soil samples collection and soil health cards.He also demonstrated the techniques in collection of samples from the soil. Ms. C. Yamuna, Assistant Professor said that every farmer has to treat their seeds before the sowing operation for controlling the diseases. Sri. Damodhar Rao, Sarpanch in his address said that all the farmers should participate in a collaborative way and also thanked the Agricultural College for conducting the NSS Special camp in their village and motivating the farmers. Sri. Muralidhar, Rtd. Principal, SRR Degree College has participated in the special camp and said that NSS programme has a unique role in bringing the changes in the society and congratulated all the volunteers for their active participation in the programme. Later, the volunteers conducted an awareness programme on importance of child education and agricultural education in the near future emphasizing on the development of women and children in the villages. Also the children were informed with the uniqueness of agricultural education and job opportunities for betterment of their livelihood status. Further students have made a skit about the role of organic farming, its application in the fields, impact in the livelihood status and different water saving technologies.
