Mahatma Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary was celebrated in the NSS Special camp at Gangadevipally villag, Geesukonda mandal of Warangal in a befitting manner. NSS volunteers cleaned the premises of Mahatma Gandhi statue at the village and paid floral tributes. Fit run and Plogging was conducted for the NSS volunteers who collected one time used and disposed plastics from either sides of the road. Raitu sadassu was organised under public private partnership (PPP) mode. Scientists of RARS, Warangal under the guidance of ADR participated in the event. Representatives from the private industry included Agro input companies like ADAMA, Aris, Indofil and Monsanto. Private companies demonstrated their products. NSS volunteers have put up different diseased and insect infested plants as a live specimens and spoke about the remedial measures. RARS, Warangal scientists provided insights into the various pest management practices and highlighted the new and popular varieties to be adopted for the ensuing yasangi crop. Associate Dean, Dr. T. Ramesh presented the soil health cards for few farmers and promised data of the other samples of entire village shortly. Highlights of the survey conducted by NSS volunteers on the model village was brought forth by AD and stated that doubling of farmers income is possible with adopting agriculture and allied fields like goat / sheep rearing which is also a practice in the model village. Farmers and NSS students have presented their observations on agricultural practices and problems of the village. Village sarpanch Mr. G. Mallareddy extended his gratitude towards the camp and efforts of the NSS unit and Agricultural College, Warangal for his immense support of Associate Dean and ADR. NSS unit honoured Sarpanch with Shawl and bouquet.
