Training programme on Good agronomical practices in Onion cultivation

Training programme on Good Agronomic practices in Onion cultivation was organized at Velgonda village, Bijinepally mandal, Nagarkurnool district, Telangana state on 16.12.2020 to the Onion growers by KVK. Palem, Nagarkurnool dist. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme coordinator, KVK, Palem explained about INM in Onion to get better yields. Further, he added that farmers should grow Onion in two seasons instead of Cotton/ Paddy and will get max. net returns. Dr. Adhi Shankar, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Palem given training on Good agronomic practice in Onion cultivation i.e. Selection of varieties, Seed treatment, Nursery raising, Bio fertilizer application, Raised bed and Drip irrigation system, pre and post emergence herbicide application, fertigation schedule, micro nutrient foliar spray, post harvest management practices to the farmers. Mr. M. Rajashekhar, SMS (Plant protection) explained about IPM and IDM practices in Onion to the farmers. Mr. M. Chendrashekhar rao, District Horti & Sericulture officer, Nagarkurnool given information on Govt. subsidy schemes and storage structure structures to the farmers. The training programme graced by Smt. Kuruvamma, village sarpanch, Mr. M. Vishnu vardan, AEO and 32 Onion farmers had actively participated in this training programme.
