Group Meeting of AINP (All India Network Project) on Vertebrate Pest Management (VPM) at PJTSAU, Hyderabad from 28 - 29 December, 2019

The Third All India Group Meeting of AINP(All India Network Project) on Vertebrate Pest Management (VPM) is begins at University Auditorium, Rajendranagar on 28-12-2019. The 2 day Group meeting was formerly inaugurated by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest R Shobha along with Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Dr Rajan, Asst Director General (Plant Protection and Bio diversity), ICAR New Delhi. Speaking at the inaugural session R Shoba has said that, the best way of vertebrate management will ensures the safety of wild life and reduce the degradation of forests and also reduce the crop losses. To reduce the crop losses biological vertebrate management practices are very much needed for protection of wild animals instead of killing them she added. She urged the scientists, they must be focused the research programes to develop the biological control methods for ensuring the wild life protection and safety and also it ensures the crop losses for farmers. She suggested that, It is also required to educate the farmers to use biological pest and diseases management methods instead of using pesticides which are not only harmful to wild animals it’s also harmful to human beings. Due to the forests encroachment and man made activity some of the wild animal population is decreased very rapidly. She said that, in 1930 there were 40000 tigers are there in the Indian forests, now its number is reduced to 2967, in Telangana its about 26 only she added. While speaking on this occasion Dr V Praveen Rao, VC PJTSAU has suggested that, vertebrate management cannot be studied isolate, it should be a inter disciplinary, multidisciplinary he said. He suggested the scientists to make use of digital technology for achieving of better research results. Dr. Rajan, Assistant Director General and Dr RS Tripathi, Network coordinator, AINP- VPM were also spoke on this occasion. Dr Rajan has delivered the welcome address. Dr Tripathi has presented the progress of the VPM project report for the last 2years. Several publications were released by the Chief guest and other dignitaries on the dais which were brought out by the AINP centers across India. Dr R Jagadeeshwar, DR PJTSAU, Dr V Vasudevarao, Principal scientist & Co Coordinator, AINP-VPM and several scientists from various network centers were also present. Dr Vasudevarao has proposed the vote of thanks.
