Hyd- ISHM & IRR- Celebration of National Farmers day on 23.12.2022

National farmer’s day was organized by Institute of Soil Health Management and Institute of Rice Research at M.S.Swaminathan Annex building on 23-12-2022. For this programme farmers from Medchel and Shamshabad division were participated. Programme was initiated by Dr.A.Madhavi, Principal Scientist &Head, ISHM, AICRP-STCR educated the farmers on importance of soil testing, fertilizer management, use of organic manures and enlighten on use of straight fertilizers instead of complex fertilizers for balanced fertilization to improve the soil health. Dr.P.Raghurami Reddy, Principal Scientist &Head, Institute of Rice Research, elaborated on the varieties to be used for coming rabi season, benefits of different varieties, management practices for rabi rice to improve crop yields etc. Dr.L.Krishna, Principal Scientist , Rice breeder explained the draw backs in certain varieties used by the farmers and enlighten the type of varieties that are suitable for rabi and their benefits to the farmers. Dr.T.Kiran Babu, Plant Pathologist of rice centre gave suggestions on the important diseases that occur during rabi season. Dr.T.Anjaiah, Senior Scientist, AICRP on MN, Dr. M.Shankaraiah, Senior Scinetist, AICRP on MN and Dr.T.Srijaya, Senior Scientist, AICRP on STCR participated in this programme. Finally, on the eve of National farmers day one of the farmers was felicitated who is under farming since sixty years to encourage the agriculture for the future generations.
