Establishment and Inauguration of New Automatic Weather Station at KVK, Kampasagar on 28-01-2021

A new Automatic Weather Station (AWS) was established and inaugurated at KVK, Kampasagar on 28.01.2021, under the project District AgroMet Unit (DAMU) which is a joint collaboration between Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) under Garmin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) Scheme. On this occasion, Dr. M. Shankaraiah, Programme Coordinator & Head, KVK, Kampasagar inaugurated the station and briefed about the importance of weather in day-to-day farm operation and acknowledged the improving technology and accuracy in Weather forecast from state level to block level. Also stated that, with this new addition of Automatic Weather Station to KVK, helps in monitoring the weather conditions and also increases our Weather services to farming community by which farmers manage their farm operation by getting warnings and forecast and save their crop from being damaged by aberrant weather conditions. A. Sai Kiran, SMS (Agrometeorology) explained the working procedure of AWS and how to collect and analyze the data from AWS and emphasized its role in preparation of Agromet Advisory Service Bulletin (AAS). In this programme all Scientists of KVK Dr. T. Bharath, SMS (Crop Production), S. Pallavi, SMS (extension), T. Himabindu, SMS (Horticulture) and non-Teaching staff are involved.
