International Day of YOGA 2020 at Agricultural College, Sircilla on 19-06-2020

6th International day of Yoga (IDY 2020) was organized by NSS unit of Agricultural College, Sircilla on 19th June 2020 on the theme of “Yoga at Home” and “Yoga with family” considering the present COVID - 19 pandemic situation around the world. Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21st of every year it is celebrated as International day of Yoga. Mr. T. Arunbabu, member of NSS team welcomed the gathering and briefed on history and benefits of yoga. Dr. M. Shanthi spoke about health of human beings depends on the physical, mental and spiritual healths which are possible by following yoga. Later, Mr. Ramesh, Physical Director of the college demonstrated most important exercises like Pranayama, Suryanamaskaras and Assanas which increase the positive energy levels in the body, remove toxins and reduce stress and anxiety. The NSS Programme Officer Dr. K. Rajesh briefed about the activities organized by the NSS unit of Agricultural College, Sircilla during last week related to International Yoga Day 2020. On this occasion, he displayed the yoga charts and banners in the college notice board and motivated the NSS volunteers to participate in online quiz and My life-My yoga online video blogging competitions organized by Ministry of AYUSH. He said that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition which embodies unity of mind and body and narrated health issues while can be prevented by practicing yoga as part of our daily life. On this occasion the Associate Dean, Dr. G. Samuel reminded about the corona crisis which offered an opportunity for the people to explore the true benefits of yoga this year. Yoga importance has increased as it mainly about strengthening the respiratory and immune system. Regular yoga practice leads to better mental, physical and spiritual health which positively changes lifestyle and increases the level of well-being. Finally, vote of thanks proposed by Dr. R. Sathish by quoting a slogan “Yoga is the best way to health and fitness and also good for community, immunity and unity”. All the teaching, non-teaching staff and outsourced personnel workers participated in this programme.
