The students of Agriculture Polytechnic Tornala have celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2021 in a grand way. The occasion was graced by Dr R Jagadheeswar, Director of Research, PJTSAU, Dr R Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal and Dr A.V.Ramanjeneyulu, Senior Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala along with Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal, Dr. E.Srinivas(Professor) and Dr A. Satish (Assistant Professor). Prior to start of the programme a small exhibition was organized by the students with models and charts displaying various technologies. The Director of Research and other dignitaries had interacted with the students and appreciated the knowledge and efforts put in by the students. The students of second year welcomed the dignitaries on to the Dais. To mark the occasion of Women’s Day an essay completion on the Role of Women in increasing the Productivity and profitability in Agriculture and a rangoli competition on the theme of woman were conducted to the students. About 25 students took part in the essay writing competitions, Ms Vinathi, Ms Chandana, Mr Anudeep from 2nd year and Ms Kavya from 1st year received first, second(Jointly) and third prizes through hands of the Director of Research and other dignitaries. Rangoli competition was taken part by 24 students in 6 groups and the team lead by Mr Sriram won first prize and the team lead by A. Akhila won second prize. The Director of Research also felicitated Ms Sangeeta, a second year student for securing Bronze medal in long jump in the State level Athletic Championship Competitions for under-18. The Director of Research addressed the students and informed the efforts of the University in the aspects of women empowerment and gender equality. Dr Uma Reddy and Dr Ramanjeneyulu reiterated the value of a girl child in the family as well in the society. The students had felicitated Dr S. Sridevi, Principal and Dr. R. Jagdheeswar, Director of Research, PJTSAU, Dr R Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal. The programme came to an end with the formal vote of thanks by Ms Chandana.
