International Women's day Celebration by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rudrur on 08-03-2021

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rudrur has celebrated International Women’s day on 08.03.2021 (Monday) and also conducted a Group discussionon “Problems faced by Women farmers and Possible Solutions” at Anthapur Thanda village of Varni Mandal. The event began with the welcome address by Dr. S. Naveen Kumar, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Rudrur remarking the gathering as a great opportunity to deliver positive change for women in rural areas. He further detailed that it is important to consider everyday as a women’s day, as the women are blessed with more strength to face difficult challenges in our day to day lives with an ease in right to plan perfect decision making. As Krishi Vigyan Kendra is working for the welfare of women in every aspect, it is important for the women to stay in contact with the Scientific staff of KVK and get aware of the schemes & subsidies of Telangana state Govt. and adopt livelihood oppurtunities provided by KVK, Rudrur under Tribal Sub Plan and other training programmes that are conducted as per the Mandates of KVK. He also said that the Scientists of KVK, Rudrur will all time be available to bring out the significance of the hardwork done by progressive women farmers in the reality and develop a frame work of action plan for the interested women who are willing to improve their livelihood oppurtunities. Sri. G. Jagram, DGM, BSNL while addressing to the women of AnthapurThanda expressed his gratitude to KVK, Rudrur for adopting AnthapurThanda under Tribal Sub Plan. As the Training programmes and Capacity Building programmes of KVK include the developmental activities of the village, it is important for the women to come forward and utilize the provided oppurtunitiesfor their welfare. The women should form into groups of 10 members each for sharing their problems and discussions should be held for bringing out the right solutions. Smt. G. Padma, Sarpanch, AnthapurThanda appealed to the participants to actively participate in the programmes organized by KVK as it helps to develop their skill and generate new employment oppurtunities in the present challenging situations. Smt. Chandrakala, Anganwadi teacher, AnthapurThanda shared that women are way forward in every aspect of work, so it is necessary to allow the girl child in aiming higher studies and becoming self independent and economically stable to draw out the gender disparity situation. Dr. M. Swetha, SMS, Agril. Extension, KVK, Rudrur expressed that to see a change in the village, the change should first start from our home itself. The women should adopt the new scientific technologies, training and skill development activities of KVK to bring a positive change in their rural livelihood. Smt. Radha, Women beneficiary under Tribal Sub Plan of KVK, Rudrur shared her opinion that there is a need for Maggam work machines as a part of training programmes under KVK as it will be helpful for them to increase income generating opportunity. Thereafter, Vegetable seedkits were distributed to the women of Anthapur thanda under Tribal Subplan of KVK, Rudrur. Dr. B. Venkata Rajkumar detailed about the importance of kitchen garden as it is advantageous to grow nutritive vegetables in the back yard of house and saving the expenditure on their purchase from market. Later, Group discussion was held between the Women of Anthapur thanda village and Scientific staff of KVK, Rudrur to understand the problems faced by women farmers in agriculture. Finally, the event ended with the Felicitation to Progressive women of the village and a thanks giving note by Dr. M. Swetha, SMS, Agril. Extension. A total of 106 participants have attended the programme.
