Celebrating International Year of Millets 2023, PJTSAU and ICAR-IIMR have jointly organized Millet Walkathon 2023 on 03rd March 2023

On the eve of celebrating International Year of Millets 2023, PJTSAU and ICAR-IIMR have jointly organized Millet Walkathon 2023 on 03rd March 2023 at University Auditorium as starting point and the walk ended at IIMR, Rajendranagar. This event was organized to sensitize students, teaching and non-teaching staff and all other workers of various ICAR institutes and PJTSAU about the potential health benefits of consuming millet food and its nutritional values. The programme started at 3.30 pm with introductory remarks and the purpose of the event, followed by a street play by the students of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar on the importance of millets. Later on Dr. Seema, Dean of Agriculture and Dr. J. Satyanarayana, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr.C. Tara Satyavathi, Director, ICAR-IIMR and Dr. B. Dayakar Rao, CEO Nutri Hub, flagged the Walkathon event at the University Auditorium as starting point. From here, the Walkathon proceeded via Veterinary University, main road of Rajendranagar and the walk ended at ICAR-IIMR. During the entire walk, slogans were raised by the participants on the importance of millets. About 1200 participants comprising the students of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, staff of Research schemes located in PJTSAU Rajendranagar campus, students from Veterinary College, staff of all the ICAR and Govt. of India institutes in Rajendranagar (IIOR, IIRR, NAARM, MANAGE) attended the programme. The event ended with the distribution of around eight types of millet-based snacks to all the participants.
