Workshop on International Year of Millets -2023 organised by RARS,Jagtial in collaboration with Agricultural College Polasa on 10.02.2023

This is to submit that, In view of the International Year of Millets -2023, a workshop on “Importance of millets cultivation and benefits of millets” is organized by Regional Agricultural Research Station on 10-02-2023 in collaboration with Agricultural College, Polasa at silver Jubilee hall, RARS, Jagtial. This programme has started by gracing the occasion by Dr. G. Sreenivas, Principal & Associate Director of Research, Northern Telangana Zone and Dr. S. Narender Reddy, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Jagtial. The technical session has started by Guest speakers Dr. M. V. Nagesh Kumar, Principal Scientist & Head, Nodal officer (Millets), Maize Research Station, PJTSAU, Hyderabad. He emphasized the importance of millets in nutritional attributes and the role of millets in prevention of diseases especially the life style diseases and their cultivation and the role in socioeconomic development of small and marginal farmers. Later the significant role of millets as eco-friendly crops and dietician diet has briefly addressed by Dr. S. Naveen Kumar, (Senior Scientist), Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vignan Kendra, Rudrur. Thereafter, Dr. T.V.N. Padmavathi, Assistant Professor, College of Food Science & Technology, Rudrur elucidated the processing of millets and value added products prepared from millets in a befitting manner for the development of entrepreneurial opportunities among the students. All the students of Agricultural Polytechnic and Agricultural College, Jagtial and all the teaching, scientific staff and non teaching staff of Agricultural Polytechnic & Agricultural College and Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jagtial has participated in this programme.
