Joint IRRI-PJTSAU training program on “Haplotype analysis and their application in breeding” at Seminar Hall, PJTSAU Library, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad from 27-28 th February, 2024

A 2 day’s training programme on “Haplotype analysis and their application in breeding” organized by PJTSAU in collaboration with IRRI – ISARC, Hyderabad at Seminar Hall, University Library, PJTSAU from 27-28th February, 2024. This training programme is conducted as part of capacity building programme under DBT-Haplo NILs project and PJTSAU is also part of the project. A total of 50 participants i.e. scientists, project staff and PhD research scholars from PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, IRRI-ISARC, Hyderabad, IRRI, South Asia Hub, Varanasi, ICAR-IIRR, Rajendranagar, TNAU, Coimbatore, NRRI, Cuttack, NRRI, Regional Center, Hazaribagh, RARS, Palakkad (KAU), BHU, Varanasi, PAU, Ludhiana, AAU, Jorhat, Central University of Haryana, Jorhat, IGKV, Raipur were participated in the training programme. The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU highlighted the importance of advanced statistical and bioinformatic tools for breeding programme in rice. Dr. Vikas K. Singh, Regional Breeding Head, South Asia has briefly projected the objectives of the 2 day training programme to the participants. Further, Dr. Hans Bhardwaj, Global Rice Breeding Head & Director, Rice Breeding Innovations Platform, Dr. Sankalp Bhosale, Deputy Director, Rice Breeding Innovation Platform & Research Unit Leader, IRRI, Philippines were addressed the participants virtually. The two day training programme focused on imparting the hand on experience on new innovative tools for haplotype diversity analysis, Haplo Pheno Analysis, GWAS and Et-GWAS, Linkage and QTL mapping.
