Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial has organized a programme for the distribution of Jowar seed (CSV 29R & MJ 278(Kinnera)) with bio-fertilizers to the Gonds Tribal farmers under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at Geethanagar, Bheemjiguda, Pangidimadhara villages of Tiryani Mandal of Kumrumbheem Asifabad (Aspirational District), on 20.10.2020. The main objective is to replace the existing locally cultivated Jowar with high yielding Jowar seed which in turn enhance the yield per acre to increase the income of the farmers. Dr.M.Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator, addressed the farmers and farm women on the health benefits, demand and importance of Nutri Cereals particularly about Jowar. Further, he added use and importance of Biofertilizers. Biofertilizer will enhance the soil fertility and increase the availability of nutrients to the plants to sustain the soil health. Cost of the biofertilizers is less when compared to chemical fertilizers and reduce the cost of cultivation and ecofriendly. Dr. Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agricultural Extension) addressed the gathering on different entrepreneurial avenues and explained on the value-added products of Jowar.In this programme, 300 kgs of Jowar seed and 100 bags of Biofertilizers were distributed to 100 No. of farmers per 100 acres. Sri Athram Jangu, Sarpanch, Sri Pendre Kesav Rao, MPTC, Sri A Shekhar, NABARD Project Coordinator and 100 No. of farmers were attended.
