Kharif program implementation in adopted village, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Mallapur on 04-06-2024 on 27.05.2024

Village Adoption Programme (VAP) team of scientists under the guidance of the Association Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar visited the Adopted village, Mallapur on 04-06-2024. For the ensuing Kharif season, farmers were given Cotton seed RCH-929 BG II (Rasi) for half acre to six farmers for demonstration purpose under High Density Planting System (HDPS). Hybrid has compact nature with uniform maturity, amenable for machine harvest. Hence, it was advised to take up sowing with seed-cum ferti drill to ensure improved germination and crop establishment, efficient use of seeds, consistent planting depth, reduced soil erosion, moisture conservation further saving the time and labor so as to improve crop yield and quality. Along with the cotton seed, Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) in powder form was also given to improve the soil fertility, with a view to reduce the chemical fertilizers. Seed treatment with PSB plus rhizobium has been recommended for legume crops. The list of beneficiaries included Mohan Reddy, P.Ravinder Reddy, C. Narender Reddy, C. Balavanth Reddy, C. Pentaiah and S. Shekar Reddy. The programme has been conducted under the guidance of VAP Chairman and the Associate Dean Dr. C. Narendra Reddy, Convenor Dr. T. Ramesh, Sr. Professor and Head, Crop Physiology, adopted village team members, Dr. K. Aruna (Extensionist) and Dr. I Shakuntala Devi, (Economist), Participants included Sri Chirra Sailu, former sarpanch, Sri Ranga Reddy including 14 progressive farmers of Mallapur village.
