KVK, Bellampalli, Mancherial District sanctioned with Project on IRM: Dissemination of Pink Boll Worm Management Strategies during the vanakalam, 2022-23 by Central Institute of Cotton Research, Nagpur. Under this project KVK, Bellampalli selected a cluster of 25 acres of Bt Cotton at Ankusham Village of Bellampalli Mandal of Mancherial District and organized farmers awareness programme cum method demonstration on the application of Gossyplure 4% Wax based Formulation (CREMIT - ATGC) on 23rd August, 2022. On this occasion, Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Bellampalli briefed the farmers on the Mating disruption technology of wax based Gossyplure 4% (RTU) formulation, which over stimulates males with a sex pheromone to disrupt the mating cycle, preventing males from mating with female moths ofpink bollworm on cotton. Later explained in detail about the methodology as the MDT (Mating Disruption Technology) will be applied at dosage of 375g or 500g per acre, by dividing into three splits (under rainfed conditions) or four splits (under irrigated conditions), respectively and applied at an interval of one month starting from 35 to 40 DAS, 65–70 DAS, 95–100DAS and 125–130 DAS to cotton crop. At each application 125g of the paste applied onto 400-500 plants as source points in an acre area. Each source point should receive approximately 300mg of the paste. The paste will be applied directly on to the plant at the primary branch axil, below 3 to 4 inches from the terminal portion of the plant for first application and 6 inches from the terminal part of the plant for subsequent applications. Apply the paste by holding the tube perpendicular to the application spot. Apply the pheromone paste starting from the border rows of the field. A distance of 5 meters should be maintained between the plants within the row and 2 meters distance between the rows. Similarly, on the second row, leave 2.5 meters from border and apply the paste, so that they will occur in the zig-zag pattern in the whole field. Subsequent application should be done on to the rows that are adjacent to the previously applied one (1 application). Similar methodology will be followed for subsequent application. In this programme Dr. Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agril. Extension), Sri.A.Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection) and Dr. I. Thirupathi, SMS (Crop Production), Dr. V.B. Reddy and Sri. Shashidhar, ATGC, Hyderabad, public representatives of the village and along with 30 farmers were attended.
