Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial organized National Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree Plantation” on 17th September, 2022 at KVK instructional farm and conducted capacity development programme for Anganwadi teachers, farm women and the students aimed to sensitize on various aspects of nutrition to address malnutrition by bringing change in the food system through creating awareness on different interventions. Dr. Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator, KVK Bellampalli briefed the participants on the purpose of celebrating the Poshan Abhiyan is to take the message of nutrition to every corner of the country and to focus on complimentary food, created awareness on nutri-garden and bio-fortified varieties, Interaction on nutri-cereals and their role on human health and balanced nutrition for a healthy life keeping in view of tribal and general women health of the district. Smt. J. Swetha, Muncipal Chair Person explained about complimentary food, treatment to pregnant women and children. Sri. Srinivas, MPP, Bellampalli created awareness on treatment and prevention from infections in children and unhealthy eating habits. Smt. K. Shakunthala, MPTC, Bellampalli explained importance of nutritious food. Smt. M. Uma Devi, CDPO-ICDS explained about weekly food to consume by pregnant women and given the information regarding homemade nutritional food which is easily available for women and children.. Later distributed of 100 Kitchen garden kits (Seasonal Vegetable seeds) sponsored by IFFCO to the participants to promote the nutritional security followed by “Tree Plantation (285) at KVK Horticulture Block. Kamala, Councilor, Smt. Uma Srinivas, Councilor, Scientists of KVK, Bellampalli Dr.Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agril.Extension), Sri. A. Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection), Dr.I.Thirupathi, SMS (Crop Production), Dr.U.Sravanthi, SMS (Horticulture) and Dr. B. Sathish Kumar, SMS (Agromet).A total number of 201 (169 AWTs, Farm women, Students, 15 Officials and 17 KVK staff) participated in this programme.
