Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadadri Kothagudem conducted a diagnostic field visit in Cotton, Brinjal on 11.08.2022

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem diagnostic team has visited Cotton,brinjal fields at Patha Anjanapuram, Nayakulagudemvillages of SujathanagarMandalof Bhadradri Kothagudem district on 11.08.2022. The diagnostic committee lead by Dr. V. L. Narayanamma (Programme Coordinator) including Mr. B. Shiva, SMS (Horticulture) along with Sri. G. Lalchand, ADA (Tech), G. Narmada (Agri. Officer), Sharath (Agri. Extension Officer) has visited the cotton, Brinjal fieldsand diagnosed crop damage due to spaying of 2,4-D herbicide at Patha Anjanapuram village and diagnosed para wilt in cotton at Nayakulagudem village, diagnosed shoot and fruit borer in brinjal at Patha Anjanapuram village.

The Diagnostic team has given below recommendation
Cotton
2,4-D Herbicide:
·Recommended using of Knapsack/Battery operated hand sprayers
· Recommended trimming of affected plant parts
·Do not use Taiwan sprayer for herbicide spaying.
· Do not exceed spray height of 50 cm above target and ground speed of 10 km/h.
· Do not apply if wind velocity exceeds 15 km/h (as measured by handheld wind recorder approved by the Registrar: Act 36 of 1947).

Para wilt:
·Recommended spraying of potassium nitrate @ 10gm per lit of water weekly twice for management of para wilt

Brinjal -Shoot and Fruit borer:

• Removal of the affected terminal shoot showing boreholes.
• Removal and destruction of the affected fruits.
• Follow crop rotation
• Growing of the varieties with long and narrow fruits in endemic areas
• Installation of pheromone trap@12/ha
• Application of neem cake at 250kg/ha at 30 days after transplanting.
• Spraying of azadirachtin 1500ppm@5ml per lit of water thrice starting from one month after
• transplanting at 15 days interval.
