Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem diagnostic team has visited flood effected Mandal’s of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on 04.09.2024. The diagnostic committee lead by Dr. V. L. Narayanamma (Programme Coordinator) including Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao, SMS (Crop Production), Mr. B. Shiva, SMS (Horticulture) along with Sri. B. Tatarao, ADA (Tech), Shankar (AO), Smt. Shruti (AEO) and 45 number of farmers has visited the submerged villages of Gattu Laxmipuram, Nagineniprolu and Reddypalem villages of Burghampadu Mandal and surveyed submerged fields of cotton, paddy and chilly fields. It was diagnosed that nearly 1030 acres of cotton fields and 1560 acres of paddy crop was damaged due to continuous submergence. The farmers were suggested to take up foliar spray of 13:0:45 (potassium nitrate) or 19:19:19 @ 10g/ lit of water twice at weekly intervals in cotton after the cessation of rains and were also suggested to drench the crop with COC @ 3g/lit in view of para wilt. In these flood prone areas, the team has suggested to adopt ‘direct sowing method’ with short duration paddy varieties. The team has also suggested to practice raised bed method to grow chilly nurseries to escape further inundation.
