KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training on “Value addition to Millets” under TSP, 2021-22

KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training Programme on “Value addition to Millets” from 10th to 12th February, 2022 at KVK, Malyal under Tribal Sub Plan Project, 2021-22 to the Tribal Women of TSP project villages.The training started with inaugural session on 10-02-2022. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) and Co-Principal Investigator, KVK, Malyal explained about need, objective and importance of the programme. Dr. S. Vahini, E.O. (Grade-I Supervisor), Dept. WD & CW, Mahabubabad participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Nutritional importance of Millets in our diet, Ways and means of incorporation of Millets in our diet and practical session on “preparation of barn yard upma” On 2nd day (11-02-2022), Smt. N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), KVK, Gaddipalli participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Entrepreneurship development through millets – prospects and challenges” and practical session on “Preparation of millet products (Ragi laddu, Jonna murukulu and korra pindi pakodi)”. On 3rd day (12-02-2022), Smt. A. Prashanthi, SMS (Home Science), KVK, Jammikunta delivered lectures on “Success stories of Millet food entrepreneurs”. Later, a practical session was held where the trainees were given hands on training in preparation of different millet based food products. The trainees prepared different millet products like, Bajra laddu and korra payasam, etc. In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal pointed out that, in the present days of growing importance of millets, the trainee participants should utilize the opportunity for entrepreneurship and think innovatively to start and expand the business. Dr. S. Venkat, Additional District Rural Development Officer, DRDA, Mahabubabad participated as Chief Guest and explained about the loans and schemes available at DRDA towards entrepreneurship development for women farmers and distributed Certificates to the trainees. Smt. Nalini Narayana, DPM, Sri B. Babu, APM from DRDA, Mahabubabad and 25 no. of Tribal Women farmers constituted into 4 groups from two adopted village (Bheemla thanda of Narsimhulapet Mandal and Balya thanda of Kuravi Mandal) participated in the programme.
