KVK Malyal Organized 3 days skill Training on “Value addition to Millets” under TSP, 2022-23 from 11th to 13th March,2023

KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training Programme on “Value addition to Millets” from 11th to 13th March, 2023 at KVK, Malyal under Tribal Sub Plan Project, 2022-23 to the Tribal Women of TSP project villages.The training started with inaugural session on 11-03-2023. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) and Co-PI of TSP project explained about need, objective and importance of the programme. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal pointed out that, in the present days of growing importance of millets, awareness on international year of millets, suggested participants should utilize the opportunity for entrepreneurship in micro level and later expand the business. Dr. S. Vahini, E.O. (Grade-I Supervisor), Dept. WD & CW, Mahabubabad participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Nutritional importance of Millets in our diet, Ways and means of incorporation of Millets in our diet and practical session on “preparation of bajra laddu” On 2rd day (12-03-2023), Smt. D. Ramadavi & Smt. P. Rajitha, entrepreneurs, Annapurna Home Foods, Gudur Mandal explained how to prepare raw materials for making millet based products and showed practically preparation preparation of practically Ragi laddu, Jonna laddu, and other recipes. On 3nd day (13-03-2023), Smt. N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), KVK, Gaddipalli participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Entrepreneurship development through millets – prospects and challenges” and practical session on “Preparation of millet products (Ragi laddu, Jonna murukulu and korra pindi pakodi)”. The trainees prepared different millet products like Ragi laddu, Jonna murukulu, Jonna chekkalu, Korra pakodi and korra payasam. In the valedictory session, Sri B. Chatru Naik, DAO, Mahabubabad participated as chief guest and reiterated importance of millets in our diet and later, distributed certificates to the trainees. 30 Tribal Women constituted into 6 groups from 4 TSP adopted villages participated in the programme.
