KrishiVigyan Kendra, Malyal conducted awareness programme on “Integrated pest management of Black thrips in Chilli” in collaboration with South Asia Bioltechnology Center, a non profit organization from Jodhpur, Rajasthan at Nerada Village of Kuravi Mandal, Mahabubabad District on 16-02-2023. Dr. S. Shravan Kumar, Scientist (South Asia Biotechnology Center) appraised the house about the activities and demonstrations conducted by their institute on management of black thrips in chilli. Dr. N.Ramana, Scientist(South Asia Biotechnology Center)explained about different IPM practices in Chilli like installation of sticky traps, growing of border crops, integrated management practices for virus control. He also explained the importance of timely spraying of pesticides in chilli. Dr.S. Malathi,Programme coordinator, KVK, Malyal created awareness on the utility and need of drone spraying technology in the current situation of labour shortage. She also clarified the queries raised by the farmers on wilt, black thrips management in Chilli crop. Later, Demonstration of drone spraying was shown to farmers.Sri. K. Suryanarayana, DHSO, Mahabubabad acted as chief guest of the programme and addressed the gathering. He asked the farmers to make use of the facilities provided by the Government for FPOs and FPO should diversify their activities for economic strengthening of the unit. In this programme, Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Smt. V. AnithaSri, HO, Kuravi, Mahabubabad, Sri. M. Manjukhan, MAO, Kuravi, Mahabuababd, Sri.P. Rajeshwari, AEO, Kuravi cluster, Mahabuababd, Sri. P. Damodhar Executive Manager, ITC Spices, Telangana, Sri. G. Srinivas, Sarpanch, Nerada and 200 no.of farmers from Nerada, majoity being from Dharaniputra FPO, Nerada have participated.
