KVK, Malyal – Organized “Awareness programme on Kharif crops” at Rythuvedika Chinnamupparam of Nellikudur Mandal on 13-06-2024

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal organized “Awareness programme on Kharif crops” at Rythuvedika, Chinnamupparam of Nellikudur mandal on 13-06-2024. Dr. V. Sudha Rani, Director of Extension, PJTSAU participated as chief guest for this programme and addressed gathering. She suggested to take up Cotton crop in HDPS method which helps farmers to realize good yields in single picking by terminating crop in the month of November ending itself which escapes from incidence of pink boll worm and also helps in realizing good yields from taking second crop during Yasangi in time. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, CTZ, RARS, Warangal remarked that farmers should aim at increasing their net income levels rather than mere yield levels. He suggested Cotton growing farmers to take up sowing after receiving good amount of rainfall to overcome expenditure on seed for replanting and to minimize the problem of spurious seed. He also suggested to utilize the available foundation seed of Paddy varieties at different Government institutes, multiply the seed and it can be used for 4 - 5 seasons to reduce cost on purchasing of seed for every season. He also requested participants to think about growing of Pulses, vegetables for getting good net returns instead of taking routine mono crops. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal Suggested to take up green manure crops (Dhaincha, Sunhemp, Pilli Pesara & Greengram) preceding to Rice and Chilli crops. She also requested farmers to increase usage of Bio fungicides like Trichoderma and Pseudomonas in growing crops to minimize wilt incidence and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) helps in making phosphorus fertilizer in available form to the plants from the soil. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) explained about seed treatment, single node rhizome cutting in Turmeric and Chilli nursery management, integrated pest and disease management to control wilt and leaf curl virus in Chilli. Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) explained about availability of seed as well as characters of different Paddy, Redgram, Greengram and Blackgram varieties. He also explained about Paddy nursery management and usage of Bio fertilizers. Sri K. Abhimanyudu, DAO, Mahabubabad explained about measures to be taken during purchase of seed and cross check with quantity, lot number, Batch number, expiry date and requested to keep receipt with the farmers till harvesting of the crop. Sri S. Mariyanna, DH&SO, Mahabubabad requested participants to take up Oil palm and vegetable crops for getting high and stable net returns instead of taking routine crops. Later, farmer scientist interaction where was held the queries raised by the farmers were answered by concerned experts. Sri M. Laxmi Narayana, ADA, Mahabubabad, Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Sri N. Ravindar Reddy, MAO, Nellikudur, Sri Md. Nizamuddin, AEO, Chinnamupparam cluster, 6 AEOs of Nellikudur cluster and 161 no. of farmers and farmwomen from the Mandal participated in the programme.
