Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal in collaboration with RICH (Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad) has organized a Farmer – Scientist interaction meeting on climate resilient technologies adopted by Mahabubabad farmers with special reference to Horticultural crops under a project on ‘Data for policy’ initiated by the Government of Telangana and United Nations Development programme on 08-09-2022 at KVK, Malyal. Fifty one progressive Horticultural farmers from different parts of Mahabubabad district, RICH personnel Sri R. Bhubesh Kumar, Director-Food and Agriculture; Smt. Athira M Nair, Manager-Agribusiness; Smt. Priyanka K, Business Manager; Smt. Shreyanshi Aggarwal, Communications Manager; KVK staff Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator; Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extn.); Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Hort.) participated in the deliberations. At the outset, Sri Bhubesh Kumar explained about the RICH organization and objectives of the interactive programme. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal briefed the farmers on the possible crop management practices where climate change had an impact and requested the farmers to stress upon the changed practices in both Agriculture and Horticulture at farm level over time and also climate changes which they had noticed over time in Mahabubabad. The farmers actively participated in the deliberations. Points like change in time of onset of monsoon, consequent change in sowing windows, frequency of dry spells, change in cropping system, etc were discussed. Later, few progressive farmers had given voice on their experiences on climate resilient agricultural technologies.
