KVK, Malyal – Organized Golden jubilee celebrations of KVKs in India on 09-05-2024

KVK, Malyal organized Golden jubilee celebrations of KVKs in India for two days on 09.05.24 & 10.5.24 at KVK Malyal involving farm women, Progressive farmers and input dealers. Golden jubilee torch was received by Dr. E. Rambabau, SMS (Horti.) from KVK Kothagudem on 08.05.24 evening. On first day (09.05.24) an awareness programme on golden jubilee celebration of KVKs in India was arranged at KVK, Malyal for which Sri. C. Narendra, IIT Scholar & Ranji trophy cricket player participated as a special guest. The programme coordinator Dr. S. Malathi highlighted the importance of KVKs in transfer of agriculture technologies to grass root level. Establishment of KVKs is of national importance as the KVK activities touch upon improvement agriculture and allied sectors and help in accelerating the agriculture production besides improving socio economic condition of rural families. In this programme, 45 farm women participated. Second day (10.05.24) awareness cum farmer scientist interaction meeting was held at KVK instructional farm for which Smt. A. Sarala Kumari, Associate Professor (Retd.), Home science PJTSAU, who had worked at KVK Malyal for almost 2 decades acted as chief guest. The programme coordinator explained the importance of KVKs, establishment of KVKs in India and the positive impact which KVKs have created in Indian agriculture. The SMSs delivered lectures on issues of current relevance in the soil testing, crop residue management, green manure crop preceding to rice, chili, IPM aspects. Smt. A. Sarala Kumari explained about KVK, Malyal how it has involved in agriculture development in the local area. Few farmers shared their reminiscences with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Malyal. Later few farmers who were in touch with the KVK since its inception in the district were facilitated and video clippings of their feedback were recorded. In this two days programme KVK, Malyal scientists – Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Dr. E. Rambabau, SMS (Horticulture) and sri B. Kranthi Kumar SMS (crop production) and sri. A. Bhasakr, Head, HRS Malyal participated, two days Programme 131 farmers, farm women and input dealers participated. Later, Golden jubilee torch handed over to KVK Jammikunta, scientists from KVK, Malyal by Dr. R. Uma Reddy, ADR, RARS, Warangal on 10.05.24 evening at RARS, Warangal.
