KVK, Malyal organized Field Day on “ Groundnut variety Kadiri-9” on 08-02-2021

A Field Day on “Groundnut variety Kadiri-9” was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal at Chinna mupparam Village of Nellikudur Mandal, Mahabubabad district on 08-02-2021. The demonstration was conducted by KVK, Malyal under Cluster FLD programme. The programme started with a field visit by all the participants where they were explained the characteristics of Kadiri-9 variety by Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production). The host farmer Sri Chandraiah gave feedback about the Kadiri-9 variety. He informed the house that pods are bold and disease incidence, especially leaf spot was low in the variety. Following the field visit, there was a Scientist-farmer interaction session, which was chaired by Sri Chatru Naik, District Agricultural Officer, Mahabubabad while addressing the gathering, reiterated the importance of growing more number of crops in making farmer becoming resilient to market, climate anomalies rather than the present trend of raising on only one or two crops. Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension) explained about the present scope for growing crops the sesamum, greengram in the district. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal addressed the gathering and apprised the farmers about seed treatment, fertilizer application, gypsum application in groundnut, which are critical yield deciding factors and she also explained about pest and disease management in Groundnut. On this occasion, MPTC, Chinna mupparam; Sarpanch, Peddha Thada; Mandal Coordinator also addressed the gathering. In the same forum, queries raised by farmer on timely availability of seed in Vanakalam season, pesticide residues problem in rice grains, management of fall army worm (FAW) in Maize were answered by the experts. Sri Ravindar Reddy, MAO, Nellikuduru, AEOs and 50 No.of farmers participated in the programme.
