Parthenium awareness week” by KVK, Malyal from 16th – 22nd August, 2022

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal organized series of awareness programme as a part of “Parthenium awareness week” from 16th – 22nd August, 2022 in different places of mahabubabad district - KVK, farm (16-08-2022), Upper Primary School, Malyal (18-08-2022), Gundenga village of Gudur mandal (19-08-2022) and Tribal Welfare Asrama High School (22-08-2022). In these programmes, awareness on ill effects of congress grass both on agriculture, horticulture crops and on human and animal health were highlighted. Need for eradication of the wide spread weed in farm lands, public places, uncultivable lands were clearly explained to the participants highlighting the increasing respiratory, skin and ophthalmic allergies to humans, effects on major organs in livestock. Compost preparation with Parthenium and biological control of Parthenium also were explained. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal, Sri. P.Jalender Naik, SMS (Plant Protection) Dr. N. Kishore kumar SMS (Extension), Dr. E. Rambabu SMS (Horticulture), Smt. D. Usha sri SMS (Agro-met) and Sri. M. Chittibabu (Agromet observer) acted as resource persons for these events. A total of 30 farmers, 90 students attended the awareness programme.
