KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill training programme on “Honey Bee Rearing” from 26th to 28th March, 2022 at KVK, Malyal under Tribal Sub Plan, 2021-22 to the Rural Youth. The programme was chaired by Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal and emphasized in brief about importance of this programme. She also spoke about declining honey bee population due to indiscriminate use of pesticides in the crops, which adversely affects the yields. Hence, she suggested the farmers to practice honey bee activity in some part of their land which enhances the yield of the crops and also to go for judicious application of plant protection chemicals duly adopting integrated management. Smt. J. Anusha and Sri J. Suman, entrepreneurs cum practicing farmers of apiculture from Hyderabad acted as resource persons on 26-03-2022 and delivered lectures on “Types of bees, bee box setup, field work to place bee boxes and honey extraction”, Extraction process and marketing of honey”. Sri Ravi Kumar, entrepreneur cum practicing farmer of apiculture from Eluru, Andhra Pradesh acted as resource person and gave theory lectures on “Migration and colony management”, “Methods of collection, processing and packing of Bee products”, “Success stories of honey entrepreneurs” “Economics in honey production” for two days. He showed demonstration on “handling of honey bee unit”, “honey extraction, packing and storage”, “pest and disease management techniques in honey bee unit”, “Byproducts of honey bee unit like royal jelly, propolis, pollen, wax extraction”, etc through power point presentation. KVK, Malyal Programme Coordinator Dr. S. Malathi and Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) and 28 No.of Rural Youth from 2 TSP villages (Balya thanda of Kuravi Mandal, Bheemla thanda of Narsimhulapeta Mandal) participated in the programme.
