KVK, Malyal organized 4 days Skill Training Programme on “commercial nursery raising of vegetables under shade net” from 7th to 10th March, 2022 at KVK, Malyal under ARYA Project, 2021-22 to the Rural youth. The training started with inaugural session on 07-03-2022. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal explained about need, objectives and importance of the programme. Dr. S. Sindhuja, Scientist (Horticulture), HRS, Malyal, Mahabubabad participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Types of potting mixture, filling, sowing and aftercare in polybags , Plug tray nursery cultivation and propagation of flower crops in shade” and “Economics in nursery management and Marketing strategies for promoting shade nets”. On 2nd day (08-03-2022), Exposure visit was undertaken taken to Mahima nursery of Mahabubabad and Mounika nursery of gollacherla village, Sri M. Narendhar from Mahima nursery explained the overall economics involved in the shade net and shown portray method of filling,sowing the seeds and irrigation, Sri M. Venkanna, proprietor of Mounika nursery shown the nursery raising techniques of different vegetables . On 3rd day (09-03-2022), Sri. Ch. Naresh, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Gadipally delivered lectures on “scope of commercial nurseries in the district, types of nurseries and propagation of horticultural crops” and explained about “types of protective structures suitable for nursery establishment and site selection, erection of protective structures”. On 4th day (10-03-2022), Sri. G. Venugopal, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Jammikunta delivered lectures on “Problems in nursery management” and “Success stories of shade net entrepreneurs”. In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal stressed upon importance of rural youth to form groups, to take up small scale businesses in agriculture and allied sectors like honey bee production, nursery under shade net and vermi compost etc, think innovatively to start and expand the business. They should utilize the different schemes and subsidies available sum state and central governments to establish small scale business in groups and establish custom hiring centres in the villages. 40 no. of rural youth from 3 FPOs participated in the programme.
