KVK, Malyal organized 4 days Skill Training Programme on “Value addition to Millets” from 11th to 14th March, 2022 at KVK, Malyal under ARYA Project, 2021-22 to the Rural youth.The training started with inaugural session on 11-03-2022. Dr. N.Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension) and Co-Principal Investigator, KVK, Malyal welcomed the participants. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal explained about need, objectives and importance of the ARYA Project and training programme. Dr. S. Venkat, Additional District Rural Development Officer, DRDA, Mahabubabad participated as Chief Guest and explained about market value of value addition of millets and their importance in human health. Smt. Nalini Narayana, DPM, DRDA, Mahabubabad explained about importance of formation of women groups in promotion of small scale business. Dr. S. Vahini, E.O. (Grade-I Supervisor), Dept. of WD & CW, Mahabubabad participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Nutritional importance of Millets in our diet" , " Ways and means of incorporation of Millets in our diet": On 2nd day (12-03-2022), Smt. Jessie Suneetha , SMS (Home Science), KVK, Wyra delivered lecture on “Entrepreneurship development through millets – prospects and challenges” and practical session on “Preparation of millet recipes (Ragi laddu, beet root laddu and jonna payasam)”. On 3rd day (13-03-2022), trainees were taken to visit a successful women entrepreneur, Smt M.Rama in Miryalaguda. She explained the overall economics involved in millet snacks preparation and demonstrated preparation of different millet value added food products. On 4th day (14-03-2022), Smt. A.Sarala kumari, Associate Professor (Rtd), PJTSAU, delivered lectures on “Success stories of Millet food entrepreneurs”. Later, a practical session was held where the trainees were given hands on training in preparation of different millet based food products. The trainees prepared different millet products like, korra laddu, jonna laddu, jonna murukulu and Ragi payasam, etc. In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal pointed out that, rural youth can form groups and utilize the opportunity for entrepreneurship to start and expand the business. Dr. S. Venkat, Additional District Rural Development Officer, DRDA, Mahabubabad participated as Chief Guest and explained about the different schemes available at DRDA towards entrepreneurship development for rural youth and distributed Certificates to the trainees. Smt. Nalini Narayana, DPM, Mahabubabad and 40 no. of rural youth participated in the programme.
