KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training Programme on “Value added products from Millets” from 20th to 22nd March, 2021 at KVK, Malyal under ARYA Project, 2020-21 to the Rural Youth. The training started with inaugural session on 20-03-2021. Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), KVK, Malyal explained about the need and importance of the programme. Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production), KVK, Malyal explained about Production technology of Millets. Smt. A. Sarala Kumari, Associate Professor (Foods & Nutrition) (Rtd.), PJTSAU participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Nutritional importance of Millets in our diet” and “Health benefits of different Millets and means of incorporation of Millets in our daily diet” On 2nd day (21-03-2021), Smt. J. Sunitha, SMS (Home Science), KVK, Wyra participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “preparation of Jowar murukulu and Ragi biscuits” and “preparation of Ragi laddu and missy Jowar roti” On 3rd day (22-03-2021), Smt. A. Sarala Kumari, Associate Professor (Foods & Nutrition) (Rtd.), PJTSAU delivered lectures on “preparation of millet products and entrepreneurship development through millets”. Later, a practical session was held where the trainees were given hands on training in preparation of different millet based food products. The trainees prepared different millet products like, Jowar murukulu, laddu, payasam, etc. In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal pointed out that, in the present days of growing importance of millets, the trainee participants should utilize the opportunity for entrepreneurship and think innovatively to start and expand the business. KVK, Malyal Scientists Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) and Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) and 20 no. of Rural Youth constituted into 4 groups participated in the programme.
